Eulogy for Sheena Mary Aldous Sheena was born on May 5th 1971 at the local hospital in Orsett, Essex to parents, Michael and Vera. Michael her Father worked as a mechanic and her Mum Vera, was a mill worker and then kept the family home. Sheena was a middle child; she had an elder brother named Lee and a younger sister called Faye and the family lived in Chadwell St Mary in Essex. Herringham Junior School is where Sheena began her schooling and she went on to attend Torrells Secondary School to complete her education. At school Sheena exelled in art and all things artistic. She loved flowers and indeed did not need wallpaper on her bedroom walls…. she would just draw and sketch all over the walls to give a unique finish. Conner explained to me that Mum did one room out with Disney characters… it was amazing and summed up the unique character that Mum was.. a very special and talented lady. On leaving school Sheena attended college and trained in hairdressing… she left college as a fully qualified barber ! Sheena met Tracey at J D’s pub in Greys, Essex when she was 20. Tracey ran the pub and Sheena worked there for ten years, beginning a friendship that has continued up to the present day. Sheena married and had three children, Connor, Spencer and Liah, who has just celebrated her 14th birthday. She loved her family dearly and belonged to a loving, supportive and close family unit in England…. family was very special to Sheena. Sheena had problems for years with her teeth after having several of them knocked out by a wayward swing seat and has been known to superglue her fingers to the plate, trying to repair them when they broke…. Keeping them in seemed to be a problem at times and many a laugh and giggle was made by the activities of Sheena’s dental plate over the years. Sheena had a few nicknames and all of them had something to do with beans. She was mostly known as Beaney but also as Beanpole, Beanbag and Sheenybean. Tracey described Sheena as ‘always dancing, cleaning and singing’. She loved her garden, swimming, snorkeling and pool games. Sheena’s taste in food included a love of Sunday roast dinners, curries, cheese and crackers and anything Cadbury’s, especially crème eggs… they were her favourites. Her favourite type of music included House and Garage, in fact, most songs with a good strong beat that she could dance to, she enjoyed. A story is told about Staff meetings that always included a vodka/chocolate shot…. possibly the only reason for holding a staff meeting !! Sheena really enjoyed a shot [or two]. Sheena had a cancer scare in 2009 and after an operation that April she came out to Tracey’s place near Benidorm to recover in the sun. She loved Spain so much that she decided to return after her trip and stay. It was during her stay with Tracey that she met Leah and around a year ago they went into partnership and moved to this area and to Pension Hakuna Matata… the rest is history… or ‘her story’, and that is why so many of you have come today. Over the past ten months Sheena has touched your lives in this area, and on this so very sad day, a light has gone out on the Costa Calida….. but never the memories of those special times spent together. Nothing can ever dull that warm glow of knowing a very special person like Sheena. Connor shared with me how amazed he has been with the way that people have helped him cope with all that needed to be done… you have all been fantastic, thank you, for everything. As I listened to people speak about Sheena I began to realize that she was a larger than life character, a unique person, a person with a personality that drew people to her… that is a very special gift.. Sheena you were a blessing to many people who loved you so very much. God bless you.
